Bastille Day 2013

I was going to start off tonight's report in Word by talking about an Obama-esque "Distopia" due to the encroachment on our rights by the NSA.  Now we have a more "clear and present" distopia looming over us.  The Sanford Florida just voted not guilty.  I had turned it to KABC and went right out and smoked a cigarette and to paraphrase a Coasters song "You should have seen what was going on by the time that I got back".  Lady Justice herself was gagged and tied to the railroad track.  This all white all female jury from what has to be one of the most backward, biggoted towns in America, just voted six to nothing not guilty.  This is a totally shameful and disgusting day for American justice.  The Jury had ordered jury in the deliberation chambers- - and told the Court that they intended to deliberate well into the evening.  The only other cue we got was that they asked about Manslaughter.  Well, tomorrow is Bastille Day and I suppose that's fitting because all I can say is "Get Ready for the bloodshed".  As Thomas Jefferson has been so often quoted by Thom Hartman, "The tree of Liberty must from time to time be watered with the blood of tyrants".  This jury acted in total regard of the facts. For instance they assumed throughout the course of the entire trial that George Zimmerman's account of what went on that night was factual.  They pointed out on Chris Matthews that - - well for one thing the mankquin was not "fifty pounds heavier" than the victim.  The maniquin was skinny and flimsy and easy to flop around on the floor.  The prosecuters accepted the idea that Martin was on top and Zimmerman was on the bottom but NONE of the forensic evidence even suggests this.  There was NO blood found on the sidewalk.  The phone was dropped in the wet grass and the body of Martin was found in the wet grass.  We are to believe that somehow he got up and made his way over to the wet grass from the sidewalk after he was shot.  We are asked to believe that someone who tells ten different versions of the truth and with a long adverse record with Law Enforcement was the victim, and the person with no arrest record was the perpetrator.  You don't even need to bring race into the picture to see the absurdity of this.  You have Zimmerman going on a radio program, Sean Hannity, saying that he has NO regrets, is not sorry, and in fact that it was "God's Will" for Trayvon Martin to die.  By the way if any of you have more faith in God than I do- - then go and pray real hard for "God to stop the next Riot" to paraphrase a Dylan song.  These women are mothers.  What if in the next life they are reincarnated as Israelis and their sons are murdered by Hez Ballah or the Moslem Brotherhood.  How will they feel then when these Islamists telll her "We honestly believed your son was a threat".   Well to quote from another old song "Now It Begins".  The first domino has been tripped and if the laws of gravity are still active- - as Spock would suppose it is - - "the rest is inevitable".  (Selah)

This is the evening of Saturday July 13, 2013 and Wheel of Fortune is on.  “Don’t speak too soon for the wheel’s still in spin” to quote Dylan.  We are in lavender in honor of the soon to be royal birth we were reminded about in the ABC news tonight.  They say the due date is “sometime this weekend”.  For some reason everybody is expecting it to be a girl.  But they are going to officially post all the vitals when the event occurs.  Apparently there is a lot of money to be made in royal baby merchandise.  It was not long after two when I had the Chris Matthews program on computer on MSNBC.  There was some thing Judy sent me that said that FOX news had eight percent of all viewers and CNN had seven percent of the viewers.  But CNN is a far cry from when they used to be called the Clinton News Network, and even MSNBC is not the bastion of liberalism it used to be as evidenced by how the people on the show fawned all over that Don West guy.  The guy behaved completely out of line before that Judge, who seems to be the one fair minded person in the whole Courtroom.  They extolled how “brilliant’ he is and how he fights zealously and fiercely for his client.  Of course the Prosecution should nave never let in that Police tape demonstration into evidence.  At least Marsha Clark and Chris Darden had the good sense not to put OJ on the screen telling of events in his own words before the LAPD.  Nobody does that because it would cut their own throat.  Even so I don’t see how the whole thing can’t be labeled as “heresay” because it is “not the best evidence” and isn’t sworn testimony.  If George Zimmerman wants to tell his story he can damn well do it the same way every other person has to do it – by putting his hand on the Bible and taking an oath to tell the truth.  But the questions that the Prosecution allowed were completely out of line and in any other court - - in fiction or in reality would have been immediately objected to and thrown out.  This friend of Zimmerman was giving “expert testimony” speculating on people’s “state of mind” and offering every other form of speculative opinion and very little fact.  But Nobody Objected.  I think I missed a few clips from Friday.  Maybe the slider wasn’t up all the way.  But I watched almost all of Thursday’s program except I skipped over one segment.  Then I turned on KNXT with Sports Central and have you noticed that nowadays Basketball is a year round sport, at least it is in Los Angeles.  We get Lakers out the wazoo all year round.  I guess their team is really going to suck next year with all the new rookie players.  Of course in weekend television we still have the phenomenon of “rolling up the sidewalks at three PM”.   Then about a quarter after I turned that off and turned on KLOS and basically listened to classic rock till dinner time.

We had fish for dinner and I liked it.  Tom initially said that he liked it but then changed his mind and said he didn’t.  I think it was the best fish dish we’ve had in some time.  It wasn’t watery or with an “off” flavor, and it wasn’t full of bones, or drowning in bread.  In fact, it wasn’t breaded at all.  With it we had decent rice, and carrots and lemon Jell-O with some sort of whipped cream mixed in.  Janet saw me without a cigarette and volunteered to lend me money for my next pack before I even asked.  It was all in quarters.  I went to the liquor store and bought a pack of John Black grape.  I watched the ABC news.  There was a point just before dinner when I was sitting on the patio “anxious thoughts entered my mind once more” concerning the Trayvon Martin trial but I figured it’s because of what I had just been watching, and the thoughts left me.  I guess Torranto held its Grand Prix.  I went down for medication tonight and it was as if Bill and I had swapped roles.  Tonight it was me going down early and getting my meds with a short line and peanut butter and jelly sandwich and coming back reporting to him.  It was after seven when I went out after the verdict, which I haven’t mentioned here yet but I did in the posting, that I went out to the patio and Janet gave me her peanut butter and jelly sandwich.   Since around here it’s “Hawaiian time” on that patio- - with a late skewed peak heat period- - I took off that long sleeved gray shirt around six.  I asked Joe if he thought HE would be a logical candidate to take over the leadership of Dr Levy’s class, and he said that he wasn’t.  I told Janet about this time I had about a day and a half left of coffee supply.

Today Mort Zuckerman was the guy making the most sense about the new Egyptian government.  Because though “democratically elected” the Moslem Brotherhood regeim did not GOVERN like a democratically elected government.  He also pointed out that Israel is very happy about the Morisee government being GONE now.  But Pat Buchannon believes that the Obama administration was behind the military coup.  What you have to realize with conservatives the only common denominator in Anything they say on foreign policy- - is whatever the President accomplishes- - they are against it, or claim it will end in disaster.  Eleanor Clift was also reminding us that this coup news is not bad.  There was talk about China trade and according to Pat, China is still “cleaning our clock’ and continues to pile up record Trade Surplusses against us year after year.  I didn’t know that.  For some reason I thought the trade balance problem was waning.  But then we have those three people working for the National Security Administration who got into trouble with the FBI and two of them had their homes raided.  Also two of them were involved in that Thin-thread computer program that would have made us more prepared for 9 – 11 and most likely would have prevented it from happening entirely- - had not President Bush sacked the program.  There is a case when it was IN our national security to actually BE a whistle blower.  All three men had tried to work within the system to no avail.  And all three men stuck around to face the consequences, which is something even Pat Buchannon has to respect.  That conservative brunette lady was the person whose views most reflected mine on this particular subject.  Government is getting so big and so secret we have to institute some new doctrine.  Not “Too Big to Fail” but “Too Big and Too Secretive and not above board- - to be found out”.   Hence it was predicted that Democratic voters (either generic or party meanings will fit here)  these voters will suddenly abandon the President once they have discovered the President is ushering in “A New Dystopia”, which is one of these Orwellian 1984 type situations.  We have to gain democracy by losing it.  We fight to defend something- - but in our very Means of doing so- - we lose that which we were fighting to Keep.  These are things the American People should think about more than they do.
