Mia Copa Time

Those two Enron guys, Jeff Schilling and Ken Lay were convicted by a jury yesterday of all the stuff they were charged with. A third man got a reduced sentence because he cooperated with the prosecution. I guess “Jeff” was supposed to be so charismatic that many experts thought he’d sway the court to his side. Justice was done. Some people are so convinced they are right they are constitutionally unable to “come clean” even if it would help them. If it were me I wouldn’t have made any deals at all. They can “repent” in prison. (Selah)

George Bush and Tony Blair are now both saying the rhetoric leading up to the Iraq war may have been overblown. Most specifically George Bush regrets uttering the words “Bring it on!” when talking about Osama and terrorists. It would seem to me that to admit any mistake of substance would have implications about our future foreign policy. As I see it he has no choice but to say he was perfect.

There is a lot of talk about going solar to save energy bills. But when I hear someone say they cut their electric bill to fifty dollars a month I need to remember that I paid between about thirty and forty five dollars for two months back when I had my own apartment. If you sink thousands of dollars into a new house like that case in Sacramento- - and who knows how many thousand for solar panels- - you begin to wonder just when your investment is going to pay for itself. At the rate I was paying for power back in my apartment, it would take a long time. In Germany the government subsidizes solar panels. You make a trade-off from green house gas pollution to visual pollution because those panels take up the whole roof. I guess I’m kind of wondering whether the panels are damaged by weather.

Judge Milian on the Peoples’ Court yesterday said something I don’t agree with. If a friend smashes up your motorcycle you’ve owned for three years- - you aren’t entitled to a new motorcycle even if it’s totaled. You have to take three years sales depreciation off the price. That doesn’t seem fair. I’d always heard if you damaged the property of a neighbor you had to replace it with a new whatever it was. That was just part of the price you paid of being a criminal.

This whole bit about eliminating all “sexist” reference to parental terms like Mom and Dad in text books for school children- - is just part of the sick bill to indoctrinate children into homosexuality. As you know this California bill that has been passed by the Democratic legislature will mandate that all the accomplishments of gay people be highlighted in text books. As World Net Daily accurately points out- - I thought this is a country where you were commended for what you did, rather than what you were. Apparently if it’s being gay- - that trumps everything because gayness must be promoted at all cost. Who’s sick idea is it to indoctrinate the State’s school children into a life of homosexuality. Who’s idea is this active recruiting into an abnormal and deviate life style? As I said a couple says ago I think the people of California should actively work for the defeat of each and every democrat who voted for that bill. We can hope and pray that Arnold Swartzenegger vetoes this bill. I think he’s a level headed man and sees the utter perversion of this bill. The whole idea seems to be to tear down the family structure. They say now that only fifty percent of the people are against gay marriage. I find that alarming the figure has shrunk to just half. If Christians want to pray about something, pray about this.

We were speculating yesterday what would happen if they were to announce the death of Rev. Chuck Smith. Of course there would be an outpouring of grief and tribute and remembrance. I think in some ways the worst thing for Christianity may be for Chuck Smith to stay alive till age 95 and just fade away to outdated obscurity. That would be a nightmare for him. Even twenty years ago Chuck kept talking about “getting old” though I find he’s about ten years younger than I thought he was. He has been “getting old” in his messages talking about the world his grand-children will live in. I imagine those grandchildren are all grown up by now anyhow and now he’s worried about his great grandchildren.

In the Bible sin offerings are ritualized sacrifices targeted for the removal of curses. The Bible teaches that what you sow so shall you wreep. I have at times in my life plagued by the idea like Sammy Brady on Days of our Lives that I must some how lived a wicked past life and that the iniquity of that life has carried over to this one. In the olden times your local Priests to whom you made the sacrifice would tell you what your sin was when he saw the manifest “iniquity” in your life situation. I have often thought it’s too bad we don’t have that today. There seems no way today to “come clean” and “make a fresh start”. Nobody cares. Most notably Christian pastors don’t want to touch the situation with a ten foot pole. The best you can do now is just Praise the Lord for everything that happens in your life, ever envoking Romans 8:28 and continue on as if the Lord were forever fulfilling your fondest desires just like Chuck Smith and others always talk about.
