Medical Breakthroughs

There have been so many medical breakthroughs lately. Now they are installing an artificial disk in a young woman who's own spinal disk had degenerated badly. She could not attend weddings and dance and do all the things she used to do till she had disk surgery where she was given an artificial disk that made her an inch taller. There's the girl who had her leg amputated but then had her ankle bone and nerves attatched at the knee and had the ankle joint facing backwards so it looked just like a knee. Now she can play soccer and other athletic activities with her artificial knee that used to be her ankle. Now they have discovered that botox could be a cure for depression. Apparently from what they say it paralyzes the facial muscles that prodoce frowning and this lack of ability somehow sends an impulse to the brain not to be depressed. It doesn't make sense to me but they tell me that it works. Now they have a vaccine for the human papaloma virus that causes cervical cancer in women. They have isolated the vaccine and it's now been approved by the FDA for giving to girls as young as nine as a preventative before they become sexually active. They say giving it to nine year old girls is the way for the vaccine to be most effective. They even want to give the vaccine to boys because boys are carriers of the virus. Of course Rush Limbaugh had cocliar implants so that he can hear. Rush was stone deaf for a while but since this meracle surgery now he can hear again, but I think only the very rich can afford it. Of course there's the French woman who had a face transplant so that now she has a new face. The only thing is she looks a little like Terry Shibo with muscles in her lips still inopperative. But the woman considers it a breakthrough. Of course quadrupple bypass surgery goes on all the time and people such as radio host Michal Jackson come out good as new. All the time they are improving odds of organ transplants to insure against rejection. They're making progress all the time on that substance that keeps the body from matabalizing fats, so that now if you eat too many potato chips the worse that will happen to you is you get sick because the body can't digest the substance. Lots of promise is held out for stem cell research in such areas as spinal cord regeneration. They are closing more advanced species of animals all the time. It's good to hear good news on the air.

FLIPPING THE REST OF US THE BIRD

It seems that congress, and notibly the Senate and the President are completely out of touch with the American public on the subject of illegal immigration. The people are against the broad giving of amnesty by the President and the Senate bill. If they want to arrest and deport them all I say "Try it and see if it works". I think if that solution worked someone would have tried it by now. The whole point of the bill is to offer a "realistic solution". I think they could refuse to pay out Social Securety or FICA payments to these people when they're retired or disabeled. Perhaps you could use this money as leverage. Say you'll pay them the money they've accrewed if they move back to Mexico. That to me seems quite fair.

Also there's the case of this congressman, William Jefferson, whose office was raided by the FBI with a perfectly legal search warrent. But members of Congress from both parties are all upset about this incursion of the "Executive branch" into the affairs of congress. I wish these congressmen would get real. There is no "inherent right to commit a crime" in the constitution.

I get bugged that my blogs don't get more comments from others while I look at other blogs and they get comments. What I should do is plug my own blogs in their comments section. On the subject of religion I become more aware that nobody wants to have a rational discussion on the subject. Even people who debate the subject of Athiesum are totally "out to lunch" on the topic. Many bloggers engage in what to me is minutia discussing the offences of our government and our President. I am less confident the democrats will even win in 2006 than I was a month or two ago. I think there is still enough redneck hysteria out there in middle America to keep this congress around a little longer. Look at the charges Wesley and Angelites are lodging against each other. You know that Swartzenegger is going to be the big winner in that election.

I'm having trouble getting this blog to post. I'll try again.
