San Francisco '49ers Come From Behind to Beat Atlanta

The San Francisco ‘49ers came from behind to defeat the Atlanta Falcons in Atlanta and win the NFC championship.  The final score was 28 to 14.  The Falcons definitely had snappier uniforms but that didn’t matter.  This is the first time the Atlanta Falcons had hosted an NFC championship since the team has been around since 1966.  I guess that’s the same year Foulton County Stadium was built and the Braves moved to Atlanta.  The score was 24 to 14 or something at the half.  The Falcons still led by ten.  They had a seventeen point lead into the second quarter.  And it looked like the death knell for San Francisco when they failed to score a touchdown falling just short of the goal, and Atlanta recovered the ball.  But in the end that didn’t matter.  I'll be routing for the Baltimore Ravens in tonight's game but I don't hold out very much hope for them against New England.  From a Cosmic point of view alone, the Ravens are way out-gunned- - because they are sponsored by an outfit, the Pikes, who have not just ONE but TWO winning football teams out there, and you know they all be in mass tonight on their home turf.

In other news, January 19th is “Gun Appreciation Day”.  I guess we are going to continue to get these Orwellian holidays as our society celebrates what is worst about it.  The President declared yesterday to be “Service Day”.  The President’s popularity is at 52% whereas John Boehner has an approval rating of only about fourteen percent, and congress as a whole is below that.  As we go into the new Administration term, 43% of the people are basically optimistic and 35% of the people are pessimistic, and the rest aren’t sure.  All in all you would think the polls favored the President’s agenda.  But as I said yesterday, a really big thing is that the Republicans agreed not to have this knock drag out fight over the Debt Ceiling.  According to a republican this morning- - the republicans in 2010 sponsored a bill for the United States never to default on their debts, but that Harry Reid defeated the bill.  If this is true that changes the whole picture as to which party is credible.  All I can say is that we should all get down on our knees and thank God that we will never again have to face the year 2012. Bill Clinton had fourteen official Inogural balls at the start of his second term wheras Presidentr Obama only has two sponsored Inogural balls this year.  The President sponsored ten official events at the start of his first term.  One would hope that after all the pomp and ceremony that come Tuesday congress could finally come back from their six or seven month vacation or whatever and finally get a little work done.  Because it seems trying to find a day when congress has been in session- - such days are as rare as hen's teeth, wherever that expression comes from.  I don't think the American People are prepared to take any more crap from the tea party at this point in time, and that's a good thing.

This is play-offs Sunday and it’s ten to twelve and the game hasn’t started yet.  I got done with lunch early by today’s standards at twenty to twelve.  It’s warm and sunny here and in Washington at the Capitol the sun was shining brightly just before noon.  They said the weather might not be as nice tomorrow for the actual event.  They had the “official” swearing in today in the White House live on NBC news.  Then they had some thing on violence and guns video games in our schools.   Tell Word I meant to say “some thing”.  Chuck Shumer and this Cruise guy from Texas were on Meet the Press debating stuff.  Cruise you will remember was the guy who was so right wing that Gov Rick Perry wouldn’t even endorse him in the primary.  Drawing on prior experience I left at the 8:25 break to smoke a cigarette and they were still showing commercials when I got back.  They had a long round and a short round of the usual talking heads discussion.   Actually I got out of breakfast early by today’s standards, too.  And I was able to catch the last few minutes of the KNBC local news.  They had a thing on this family who sent a video of themselves and the Dad told the kids if they got a million “likes” then he would buy them a puppy.  They received a million likes within a day and the dad made good on his word.  Vince would talk about putting out some two-bit video we could do and get a hundred thousand hits.  I would love that kind of popularity for my blog postings.  But apparently serious commentary is not nearly as highly valued by society as the frivolous stuff.

Last night I did eight photos in Flicker and the last two were more naturalistic scenes, which had been lacking.  I went out for a smoke and turned the station at 8:40 from “Cops” to NCIS and then it was Hawaii 5-0 at nine on two.  I retired just a little after nine thirty.  I got up and it was 6:14 on the digital clock.  I turned on the Today show.  We had corn flakes for breakfast and then it was a fried egg and toast with nothing on it, because the condements were late in coming around.  I watched Breakfast with the Beatles later but first it was some Live John Lennon concert on KOLA.  It was “Instant Karma” and “Imagine” and what I think was the tail end of “Well, Well, Well”.  Then it was a six pack of Beatle songs on KLOS.  It was side two of “Meet the Beatles”.  There.  I just took a respectful hiatus while they sang the Star Spangled Banana.  I’ll leave off all the Romulan and Sirius A bits I was going to do.  I went for a smoke at ten to ten and then went down to the courtyard where the bird cage was pulled out into the sunshine but the cover was on but I heard a bird or two chirping to be let out.

I watched most of Chris Matthews.  Passed over the Notre Dame guy but I listened to the Lance Armstrong stuff because they sliced and diced his credibility pretty good – in an in depth but conceise manner.  They compared and contrasted official White House photos of Ronald Reagan and Barock Obama, and in both cases the second term picture was a wider shot.  Then it was a little of Rachael Maddau.  The thing here is that the news media missed the most glairing story on Friday.  Then neglected to tell us that the whole debt ceiling crisis was officially called off by Paul Ryan and the Republicans.  This is enormous good news for the democrats and also put the VIX or fear level of the stock market at an all time low.  The high points were Sept of 2008 and May of 2010 with the European thing and the debt crisis of mid summer 2011.  Paul Ryan and the bunch must have had a lucid moment where they realized that in challenging the President on this matter they would only be making themselves look bad in the eyes of their countrymen.  Then it was “Why Can’t We Be Friends” and “Staying Alive” on KOLA radio and then seeing nothing on TV I played the first seven tracks of “After Bathing at Baxters” only it’s only considered three divisions of that album.  That was a truly “underground album” for its time.  I made it down to dinner in time for Sarah pouring the drinks.  We had a chicken and macaroni casserole – and mixed vegetables.  We got vanilla ice cream for dessert.  Laura made it all the way around the room with seconds – and vegetables too.  [material left out here]  I indeed did catch the John Mc Cain segment on “Face the Nation” and after this by way of response was a West Virginia democrat.  Then it was ABC network news.  Donnie had peanut butter sandwiches for us.  The Mc Laughlin had the black guy and Eleanor Clift for liberals but the questions and Mc Laughlin’s remarks in particular were heavily skewed to the right.  Then it was a thing on home offices on 7.2 and after 7:17 it was some Jeopardy, and then it was the last five or six minutes of “Men, Men, Men”.  Then it was “Wheel of Fortune”.  “Cops” just came on.  It’s still half way warm out.  We managed to get through a lavender file without some jinx descending on us.  That has been a challenge in the past.
