We have a real treat for you this “lottery day” of June 27, 2011. I resolved if there were pressing morning headlines like a new Supreme Court decision I would cover that but otherwise we’d talk about cloaking. There actually is a Supreme Court decision that came down today. The U S Court overturned California's restrictions of the sale of violent Video Games to people under eighteen. I have to come down in favor of state's rights on this one. California has the right to protect the safety of its citizens, and there is ample evidence that violence does adversely affects the minds of teenagers in ways we haven't even fully realized. We may be breeding a whole nation of subconsciously bred "killing machines". Perhaps the government may even find this useful They say there have been reversals in Iraq and now people are getting killed once more. The U S Court is attempting to legislate from the bench.
I would now like to make a humanitarian comment about the Sixty Minutes thing last night about busses in Florida picking up kids at Motels because the families essentially live homeless and cram several families into one room. I’ve been checking out the E = M C squared formula. Here are some facts I didn’t know. Contrary to what the equation espressly states, energy is not “convertible” into mass or visa versa. The closest you can come is when a vast amount of energy, like from an atomic blast, is weighted – then the amount of mass decreases from the debris from what it was because some of the mass was lost in the energy. But “splitting the atom” and the science thereof, is NOT based on the E = M C formula. Furthermore there is no “conversion” of mass into energy. Normally energy and mass are carried together in an object. Einstein says as an object is accelerated then both mass and energy increase, and that when you approach the speed of light both mass and energy approach infinity. And they will continue to grow by leaps and bounds but thenceforth the speed of the object will remain constant at the speed of light. The question arises of “where is zero in all of this?” Well much as we all suspected there is no “zero”. You ask “then how about all that increase in mass and energy?” Simple. The object is “still” and you have a new, heavy mass unit which the observer cannot distinguish from ours. So as I said in my last posting, “zero is anywhere you want it to be”. This whole idea of “the incredible shrinking space” is still hard to swallow. Some of the energy of the object is heat energy or kenetic or potential energy or all that stuff we learned in science class. When it comes to atomic structure there is that “binding force”, which of course, has mass. Therefore the collective mass of any atom or molecule is always a little greater than the mass of its component parts. This “strong force” is the one that is “violated” if you will, in an atomic explosion. Radioactive decay is the “weak force” that works the other way. According to science this decay or loss of alpha particles from the nucleus is not a “natural result” of improper nuclear structure but is a distinct force (like God) that causes it to happen. I had been rather hoping that somehow an argument could be made that objects became lighter as they approached light speed. This would make it easier for them to accelerate, but alas, this eventuality is not to be the case. In terms of photons, they have no mass at all in a rest state, but since they are kinetic or moving, they possess energy and hence mass. That resolves one question I’ve had. They said something trippy. They said the mass of the proton varies with the motion of the observer. This approaches non objectivism, and also plays into the hands of my pet theory.
I think Gloria was about to comment to Peter about my clicking my jaw, but just then Dana came out and tripped on a walker just outside the door and fell down. He says his knee wasn’t skinner, but I’d check if I were he. The next thing you know you see blood spots appearing on your jeans. Before this I was at the NBC site looking at “Hardball” episodes, minus Chris Matthews. They were talking about “funny science” and funny everything else, too where you just make up facts as you go along, such as they fought the Revolutionary War to end slavery. This whole idea of trying somehow to “break government” (like “breaking a Nigger) and somehow in the process of destroying the very fabric of government itself you “prove” that it “doesn’t work anyhow”. They quoted that guy about shrinking government till it’s so small that you can drown it in the bathtub. When it comes to creationism, that could be accomplished by one sentence and that would be something like “In the beginning God created heaven and earth, and every species after its own kind”. After that what are you going to spend the rest of the semester in science class doing? I can’t believe these people are really interested in “science”. Science like government is something to be sufficiently starved till it is no longer a threat. (Selah) And of course they mentioned how practically every scientist now believes in global warming. I don’t know where Michelle Bachman comes up with these figures saying there are scads of Nobel Prize scientists that agree with her.
This afternoon has sort of slipped away, one way or another. I went out for afternoon coffee break that was after 2:15 and got one cup regular and one cup black coffee from Laura. Smoking rates are too high and I’m going to have a rude awakening tomorrow. Elena was by to empty the trash. No phone calls in or out.
We had beef stroganoff and the usual overcooked broccoli, and a piece of whole wheat bread. We had vanilla pudding for desert, and I had a second helping of the main dish emptying Antwenette’s plate. I plan to do a posting on my latest theory but I want the information to percolate around in my brain a little. Loretta didn’t mention Seid and Nicky coming and I didn’t ask. I’m glad the caffeine in chocolate ice cream isn’t an impediment to Mormons. I don’t plan on being as confrontational as I was last week, if I even go. Oh, the Mexicans beat the Americans at last nights soccer match at the rose bowl where people began arriving at noon for a game that didn’t begin six.
I’m writing this assuming you’ve read the material typed earlier this afternoon. We come to the whole idea of ether and material space and its limitations and can they be exceeded and what happens when (or “if”) they are. First of all I want to clarify something from a couple of postings back. If a space vessel is approaching you and you are approaching him, and by doing ordinary Newtonian math you are exceeding the speed of light. He will be momentarily “out of your universe” and you will momentarily be out of His. But Neither of you will be “out of Thee universe”. Capish? In terms of ether, if we take the “soap film” in the soap bubble analogy to be ether there is one thing we can say about it and that is that it stretches. (and eventually bursts) You have heard it said and I repeated the remark to my brother over the phone one day that “There are scientists who say we should soon come to a time when objects receding from our telescopes - -stars, galaxies - - will not only be receding at a third or a half the speed of light as they appear now, but that they will indeed be receding at a rate exceeding the speed of light but they tell us “That’s OK, because the “space” itself is moving and so that makes it OK with Einstein theory”. Well this is pretty much an admission of my view that space is filled with a substance called ether. In terms of approaching the speed of light I have believed you could do it with 1 G acceleration for one year, and if you did 1 G acceleration for two years you would be double the speed of light, or any combination thereof such as 2G for one year or 3 G for eight months. (there’s a cell phone bill for you) And we have learned that ether “necessarily” stretches because the universe is expending due to necessary requirements of the soap bubble theory. He has nothing to do with “the universe being out of control”. The rate at which it expands can easily be rendered by surface volume geometry. The whole “event horizon” thing here is as I described it in the previous posting, with the exception noted here. Now as you approach the “edge” of the Universe and leave it, your kinetic energy will surely have increased but gravity and acceleration will non the less remain a numeric steady computation – neither greater nor less. Let’s talk about electrons. They’re everywhere. They go through each other and they go the speed of light. But it will be the kinetic energy in the rest of your body that will rise. I believe energy rises but basic Newtonian mass remains constant, and in this way disagree with Einstein. But there will come a point when your body and soul as it were are transformed as you relation to traveling electrons is altered due to your increased energy. So you will have the ability to perceive differently should the situation arise. This occasion will come when you breech the hyperspace barrier. As you know optically you will seem to “back out” of the Universe. This is a quark of light speed verses optics. We’ve talked a lot about hyperbolas but the one bit of Ether clinging to you will be from your vanishing “event horizon” as you look on things behind you. If you are traveling with a ship in front of you, you will no longer be able to see him physically, but he will still be able to see you, that is, until he exceeds three times the speed of light. Then the last bit of ether clinging to you will let go. What you will “see” at this point will depend on this newly liberated “energy” you have. I would note parenthetically that the “Super Self” theory by which you may already know the future, to a certainty past and present- - may be a reality. I said maybe.
But as a final byproduct of all of this I think this evening out on the patio I stumbled upon the possible secret to the Romulan cloaking device. If two objects approach or interact with each other exceeding the speed of light- - - well they Don’t. I think Einstein buff would say that if two objects approach each other each at half the speed of light the figure Einstein buffs quote to you is 80% the speed of light. Now note it’s called the “addition of speeds” formula. I’m technically adding negative numbers and when I do this in Excel I get the figure of positive 1.8 when Einstein buffs would tell me I should have gotten a negative 4/5. Hence we can throw out the whole formula. If a molecule is sped up sufficiently it could theoretically exceed the speed of light in one direction for a short time. If you could somehow have some possibly ocelating energy field where a molecule went first one way and then another and then and another and returned to the starting point- - this might give solids the consistency of a gas. Freeway traffic when organized flows much more smoothely. You could do this with a whole group of molecules in unison, which itself would cut way down on light obstruction. As with our two approaching space craft one would vanish in relation to the other one. But manner cloaked with a similar “cloaking key” would be compatible and both optically visable but also material and coherent. When I first pondered this idea I worried about heat generation. The principle is when a body is exposed to EHF waves it heats up the molecules (speeds them up) and then the body itself begins emitting heat or infra-red rays. Capish? However this could be controlled for as the “heat movement signature” could be preserved. (not that there might have been a few horrible accident where Romulans got fried in experiments that went bad) But bigger movements would generate longer and safer electro-magnetic waves such as in the lower SHF or even UHF bands. Going lower would require too big of a movement or ocelation. The bigger the ocelation the safer the device would be but the harder to achieve. You sacrifice some risk for expediency. As such a cloak ship would still be detectable with a certain EM wave signature. But that would be a small drawback and most people probably wouldn’t scan for it. Perhaps they have ways of desguizing these waves so that they are mistaken for something else. In two thousand years, Romulans have probably worked out the bugs.
